MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.
Producers transforming cooking oil into currently benefit from a 20p differential but that is because of end next April.
The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been consulting with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.
Mr George said “a number of small services in Cornwall currently earn money from used cooking oil”.
He included: “In order to have the ability to get this kind of industry going it does require simply a bit of lift which is available in the type of tax inescapable.“
Biodiesel is a mix of traditional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
